28. December / 20:00

Conductor: Aleksandar Marković
Janoška Ensemble
Program: New Year’s Gala in the Janoska Style
A world-class ensemble, formed by four exceptional musicians — František Janoska (piano), Roman Janoska (violin), Ondrej Janoska (violin), and Julius Darvas (double bass) — will bring a festive atmosphere with a New Year’s Gala Concert featuring a joyful seasonal program. In the second part of the evening, they will present works from their fourth album, The Four Seasons in the Janoska Style.
The four violin concertos known collectively as Le Quattro Stagioni seemed like an obvious choice for recording, especially in the year marking three centuries since the creation of this famous work — a work whose origin and meaning carry far deeper artistic and historical significance than might be assumed at first glance. Vivaldi’s complete cycle bears the title Il cimento dell’armonia e dell’inventione (The Contest Between Harmony and Invention). Published in Amsterdam in 1725 as Opus 8, the cycle includes twelve concertos for violin with string orchestra and basso continuo. Although initially perceived as a charming yet risky idea, the Janoska Ensemble’s decision to present this piece in their own authentic style has proven to be a remarkably successful artistic venture — one that earns a special place within the interpretative tradition of this masterpiece.
Classical strength presented in a contemporary spirit is reflected in the contrast between a three-century-old work and four 21st-century musicians who have created their own genre — the “Janoska Style.” One of the key characteristics of this style is the art of improvisation, once considered essential but today almost forgotten within classical string education. When Ondrej, Roman, František, and Julius step into a dialogue with the musical and programmatic essence of The Four Seasons, their exceptional skill, innate musicality, and profound respect for Vivaldi come to the forefront, bringing his ideas to life in an incredibly striking and compelling way.
Their deep understanding of Vivaldi’s sound world — enriched by imaginative interpretation and virtuosic precision — results in a refreshed reading of The Four Seasons. It represents an invitation to the Novi Sad audience to mark the end of the year with this outstanding musical experience and to enter the festive season accompanied by the synergy of supreme artistry and sincere passion for music.
