The gala opening of the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra’s 2026/2027 concert season, which also marks the opening of the NOMUS Festival, continues the programme concept Titans – Classical Strength in Contemporary Expression. For the second consecutive year, this artistic framework brings together monumental works of the symphonic repertoire and music by composers who defined their respective eras. This season’s subtitle, Prometheus, places the primordial flame at the centre of the programme as a metaphor for the power of creative impulse.

The concert title, The Flame of Prometheus, may also be understood as a creative spark passed from one era to another, changing its form without losing its driving force. From this perspective, tradition is not an immutable legacy that we merely preserve, but a flame that we inherit, transform and pass on. This idea shapes the dramaturgy of the concert, led by Chief Conductor Aleksandar Marković and featuring cellist Ivan Sendecki as soloist.

The concert also launches the cycle “Return to the Roots: Contemporary Symphonic Music by Serbian Composers”, whose programme framework was developed through the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts project The Global Achievements of Serbian Art Music in the First Quarter of the 21st Century. The cycle presents a selection of works by contemporary composers whose music has made a significant impact on the international scene, creating a link between their global artistic achievements and the concert stage of their home country.

Tickets, priced at RSD 1,500 and RSD 1,200, are available at the Music Youth of Novi Sad box office (Katolička porta 2, open from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) or online HERE.
