Mahler

21. May / 20:00

Conductor: Aleksandar Marković
Soloist: Željko Lučić, baritone

Programme:
G. Mahler: Blumine
G. Mahler: Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen
G. Mahler: Symphony No. 1 “Titan”

The concert entitled “Titan”, which also inspired the 2025/2026 season motto “Titans – classical strength reimagined”, offers a perspective on the monumental opus of Gustav Mahler, shaped through thematic references to his First Symphony.

Our distinguished baritone Željko Lučić will appear as the soloist, performing the song cycle Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen for baritone and orchestra. Under the baton of Chief Conductor Aleksandar Marković, the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra will also present Blumine — originally the second movement of the First Symphony, later removed by Mahler as it did not align with the work’s overall dramaturgy. After decades of obscurity, the piece was rediscovered in the mid-20th century and is now performed as an independent composition.

The evening will culminate in a performance of the First Symphony — a monumental work often interpreted as a journey from nature toward self-awareness.

Tickets priced at 1500, 1200, and 800 RSD are available at the box office of the Serbian National Theatre, on weekdays from 10:00 until the beginning of the last performance, on Saturdays from 14:00 until the beginning of the last performance, as well as online via the following link: HERE.
